Women's Track and Field Sits Fifth After Day One Emory Invite

ATLANTA, Georgia - The Wilmington College women's track and field team opened the outdoor season Friday afternoon at the Emory Invitational hosted by Emory University. At the conclusion of the first day of competition, the Fightin' Quakers sit in fifth-place (out of 23 teams) with one more day of competition remaining.

Lauren Stacy led the way for the team in the throwing events, earning third place in the hammer throw with a toss of 47.71 meters.

Lisa Bailey turned in a top-ten finish in the long jump, earning ninth-place with a jump of 4.94 meters.

Emma Burke was the only competitor for the Quakers on the track this afternoon. She earned third-place in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:08.18.

The final day of the invitational is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. tomorrow (March 24).
