CEDARVILLE, Ohio - The Wilmington College women's indoor track and field team helped to break in Cedarville University's Doden Field House track at the Cedarville University Collegiate Invitational on Friday afternoon. Out of the eight competing collegiate teams, the Fightin' Quakers finished sixth with a total of 39.7 points.
The throwing events were strong for the team this evening as Lauren Stacy led the Quakers, out tossing the competition in the weight throw by about one meter. Her toss of 16.27 meters earned first-place and 10 points for the team. Kayli Sullivan tied for eighth-place in the same event with a heave of 12.17 meters. Her finish was followed immediately by Zara Zeller who earned tenth-place with a distance of 11.79 meters.
Stacy and Sullivan represented in the shot put, as well. Stacy earned first-place with a distance of 13.44 meters, while Sullivan earned seventh-place from a put of 11.55 meters.
The final, individual top-five finish came from Emma Burke who earned fourth-place in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.67.
Lisa Bailey grabbed a seventh-place finish in the long jump with a distance of 4.82 meters.
In the pole vault, Ryan Allen finished in a five-way tie for eighth-place, clearing a distance of 2.82 meters. Burke also claimed an eighth-place finish; hers came in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:05.68.
Burke and Bailey joined with McKenzie Hamm, and Miranda Gibson to form a third-place winning 4-x-400-meter relay. The quartet crossed the finish line in 4:25.26.
Wilmington heads to the Indoor All-Ohio Championship Meet hosted by Otterbein University on February 10.
