Women's Track and Field Second at MSJ Invite

CINCINNATI, Ohio- The Wilmington women's track and field team traveled to the Mount Saint Joseph Invitational hosted by Mount Saint Joseph University on Saturday. The Fightin' Quakers finished second with 128 points.

Emma Burke turned in the only first-place finish on the track for the Quakers. She ran 1:07.02 in the 400-meter hurdles to place first. Burke also ran a leg on the second-place 4-x-400-meter relay. The quartet of Burke, Cheyenne Rhodes, Miranda Gibson, and McKenzie Hamm crossed the finish line in 4:21.04.

In the throwing events, Lauren Stacy took first in the shot put with a toss of 12.67 meters, the discus throw with a heave of 43.61 meters, and the hammer throw with a mark of 50.34 meters, breaking her own school record for the fourth time.  She was backed in the shot put by Kayli Sullivan, who placed second with a throw of 11.57 meters and in the hammer throw by Zara Zeller who also placed second with a toss of 42.94 meters.

Brooklyn Payne turned in a second-place finish in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.56 and a third-place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 28.58.  

Ryan Allen earned third-place in the pole vault, clearing a height of 2.83 meters.

Wilmington will be back in action on Friday and Saturday of next week at the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships hosted by Ohio Northern University.
