Stacy Wins Weight Throw, Women's Track and Field Seventh After Day One

RESULTS AFTER DAY ONE

BEXLEY, Ohio - The Wilmington College women's indoor track and field team competed in day one of the two-day Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Championship Meet hosted by Capital University on Friday afternoon. After the first day of competition, the Fightin' Quakers sit seventh with 11 points, only five points behind sixth-place Heidelberg University. 

Lauren Stacy was the top finisher for the Quakers in this afternoon's competition, becoming the new OAC Indoor Champion in the weight throw from a heave of 17.27 meters. She was backed in the event by Kayli Sullivan who earned 13th (12.56 meters), Zara Zeller who earned 17th (12.12 meters) and Calla Henry who earned 19th (11.72 meters). 

In the long jump, Lisa Bailey earned 13th place with a jump of 4.72 meters. 

Ryan Allen claimed 14th in the pole vault, clearing a distance of 2.62 meters. 

The distance medley relay composed of Kelly Rice, Miranda Gibson, McKenzie Hamm, and Allison Helmke achieved an eighth-place finish with a time of 14:09.97. 

Emma Burke also competed in the preliminaries of the 60-meter hurdles where she finished third in the field with a time of 9.54 seconds, qualifying for tomorrow's final event. 

The Quakers will be back in action at 10 a.m. tomorrow for the remaining events of the meet.
