TIFFIN, Ohio - Kayli Sullivan claimed the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) championship in the shot put for the Wilmington College women's track & field team on the final day of the 2021 OAC Outdoor Championships hosted by Heidelberg University on May 6-7.

Sullivan's heave of 12.73 meters beat Baldwin Wallace University's Abigail Rodriguez by over a third of a meter to win the title and 10 points for the team. Fellow senior Emma Burke also earned All-OAC honors with a runner-up finish in the 400-meter hurdles.

Other Wilmington performances on the final day of competition included an 11th-place run of 5:03.48 for Milena Wahl in the 1,500-meter run, a 13th-place throw of 36.97 meters from Lexi Grice in the hammer throw and an eighth-place run in the 4-x-400-meter relay.

"I couldn't be happier for Kayli [Sullivan] to win an OAC title as she has worked so hard and improved tremendously this season working with our throws coaches," Head Track & Field Coach Ron Combs said. "It was also great to see Emma [Burke] run the best race of her life to earn All-OAC honors. Her time is currently 12th in the entire country."

As a team, Wilmington finished tied for seventh place with 24 points. The University of Mount Union edged out John Carroll University for the title.

The Quakers 2021 outdoor season comes to a close, but a few athletes have their eyes set on competing for spots on the Division III nationals list.
