Burke Qualifies for Two Hurdle Finals for Women's Track & Field on Day One of OAC Championships

DAY ONE RESULTS

TIFFIN, Ohio - Senior Emma Burke highlighted the Wilmington College women's track & field team's day one performance at the 2021 Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Heidelberg University on May 6-7.

Burke qualified for the finals of two hurdles events on Thursday by taking second in the 400-meter hurdles by crossing the finish line in 1:05.20 and finishing the 100-meter hurdles in fifth (15.68 seconds). Also on the track was Savannah Rhodes in the 10,000-meter run. The junior turned in a personal best time of 40:59.81, a clear four-minute improvement from the start of the season, and placed 11th. Wilmington also had a 4-x-800-meter relay squad that finished eighth.

In field events, both Kayli Sullivan and Megan Roell competed in the prelims of the discus with Sullivan's heave of 32.06 meters placing her 14th and Roell's toss of 31.41 meters placing her 17th. Lily Williford also took 17th in the pole vault with a mark of 2.78 meters.

As a team, Wilmington is in ninth place and will look to improve on that placement in Friday's action.
