Wrestling Concludes Season at Central Region Championships

RESULTS

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Wilminton College wrestling team wrapped up its season at the NCAA Central Region Championships hosted by Case Western Reserve University on Saturday.

The Quakers had six individuals competing on the weekend - Garrett Simmons at the 157-pound weight class, Adrian Salamone in the 165-pound weight class, Alexander Ruth in the 174-pound weight class, Demarco Owens in the 184-pound weight class, Caleb Tackett in the 197-pound weight class and Mo Sissoko in the 285-pound weight class.

Simmons opened his day being pinned by Otterbein University's Ryan Whitten in just 38 seconds. In the consolation round of the 157-pound weight class, Simmons avoided the pin, but lost to Alejandro Castro of Defiance College via major decision (14-5).

Ruth fell to Luke Hopkins of Baldwin Wallace University via fall (4:26) and followed that up with a 16-1 major decision defeat to John Conover of the host Spartans.

Tackett opened his day with a preliminary victory over Geoffry Kaminsky of Ohio Wesleyan University via fall (2:21) before a 17-2 technical fall defeat to Doug Byrne of Baldwin Wallace. Kaleb Gelter of Mount St. Joseph University pinned Tackett in 3:58 the following round.

Salamone, Owens and Sissoko were all pinned in both matches on the day.

As a team, the Quakers finished 19th-of-20.
