DELAWARE, Ohio - The Wilmington College wrestling team closed out the 2022 calendar year with a 56-0 defeat at Ohio Wesleyan University on Sunday.
The Quakers competed in three weight classes on the afternoon. In the 157-pound weight class, Garrett Simmons battled Tim Alexander to time, but lost via an 8-2 decision. In the 174-pound weight class, Adrian Salamone was pinned in 2:12 by Jaret Lowry. In the 184-pound weight class, OWU's Desmon Perry defeated Alexander Ruth via a 15-0 technical fall. The Battling Bishops won all other classes via forfeit.
Wilmington's three individuals also each wrestled in an exhibition match, but each was pinned.
The Quakers will open the 2023 calendar year at the Jim Bongo Bayly Open in St. Louis, Missouri, on Jan. 7.
