WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College wrestling team travels to Defiance College for a dual with the Yellow Jackets on Thursday. Matches are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
The Teams: Wilmington and Defiance. The Quakers enter the dual looking for a first team victory on the season after sending individuals to the Storm Open hosted by Lake Erie College. The Yellow Jackets are also in search of their first dual victory after falling in six matches at the Blithe Duals over the weekend.
The Coaches: Chris Basford enters his first year as WC's head wrestling coach in 2022-23. Basford has experience coaching at multiple institutions including Limestone College (South Carolina), Maryville Univerity (St. Louis) and the University of Nebraska-Omaha. Most recently, he led Limestone to a 10-4 mark as interim coach in 2021-22. Steve Swinson, the former interim wrestling coach at Manchester University, is in his first season as Defiance's head coach.
