WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College wrestling team opens the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) portion of its schedule with a road trip up Interstate 75 to Ohio Northern University for a 7 p.m. dual on Tuesday evening.
The Teams: Wilmington and Ohio Northern (ONU). The Quakers opened the season with a 12th-place finish at the Trine University while the Polar Bears, ranked No. 15 in the country, won four matches at the Adrian duals on Saturday, Nov. 12.
The Coaches: Chris Basford enters his first year as WC's head wrestling coach in 2022-23. Basford has experience coaching at multiple institutions including Limestone College (South Carolina), Maryville Univerity (St. Louis) and the University of Nebraska-Omaha. Most recently, he led Limestone to a 10-4 mark as interim coach in 2021-22. Rob Beaschler, a 1986 ONU alumnus, is in his 35th season as head wrestling coach. Alongside his duties as head wrestling coach, Beaschler coordinates ONU's sport management program.
