Wrestling Wins Two Weight Classes in 40-12 Defeat at Defiance

DEFIANCE, Ohio - The Wilmington College wrestling team won a pair of weight classes, but Defiance College won the rest in a 40-12 victory for the Yellow Jackets over the Quakers at the Karl H. Weaner Center on Thursday evening.

Wilmington's victories came at the 285-pound and 174-pound weight classes. In the heavyweight class, Mo Sissoko pinned Lesly Fleurissaint in 2:07 for the first dual match victory of the season for the junior. In the 174-pound weight class, Adrian Salamone earned his first collegiate victory by forfeit.

Defiance took the 157-pound and 197-pound weight classes by pins as Alejandro Castro defeated Garrett Simmons in 5:56 at the 157-pound weight class while Jack Minner beat Brayden Smith in 1:54 at the 197-pound weight class. The 184-pound weight class went the distance with Joey Perez claiming a 15-1 major decision victory over Alexander Ruth.

The Yellow Jackets won all other weight classes by forfeit. 

Wilmington returns to action at Ohio Wesleyan University on Sunday.
