Men's Track & Field Scores 22 Points on Day One of OAC Outdoor Championships

(TIFFIN, Ohio) – The Wilmington College men's outdoor track & field team competed on day one at the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships today. The meet is hosted at Heidelberg University. The Quakers finished the day in seventh place with 22 points.

Wilmington's best event of the day came in the 10,000 Meter Run, where they scored 16 points. Senior Simon Heys won the event and earned 10 points with a time of 30:32.26, edging out Otterbein University's John Nice by just over five seconds (30:37.43). Noah Tobin took third in the event for six points with a personal best time of 30:52.40. With the win, Heys earned First Team All-OAC honors while Tobin is Third Team All-OAC.

The other six points for the Quakers during the day came from Justin Shuga in the Discus Throw. Shuga took third place in the event with a throw of 42.48m on his fourth attempt. Shuga earned Third Team All-OAC honors in the event.

Dane Klosterman qualified for the finals this afternoon in the 400 Meter Hurdles, finishing second with a personal best time of 55.24. He was off the pace in the 110 Meter Hurdles, finishing 10th with a time of 15.93.

Joel O'Brien just missed out on scoring points for Wilmington in the Javelin Throw, as he finished ninth with a mark of 45.24m on his second throw.

Wilmington will return tomorrow for the final day of the OAC Championships. Field events begin at 11:00 A.M. while track events start at 2:30 P.M.
