(WILMINGTON, Ohio) – Wilmington College Senior Director of Athletics Bill Wilson announced this afternoon the hiring of Shadrach Brausch as the Quakers new Strength and Conditioning Coach.
Brausch has already been an integral member of the Quakers Athletics staff as the Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities & Operations since the fall of 2023.
"I am pleased to announce the hiring of Shadrach Brausch as our new Strength & Conditioning Coach," Wilson said. "We were lucky in that Shadrach was already on our staff and has earned the respect of all of our coaches over the last year." Wilson continued, "his knowledge of strength & conditioning's best practices will benefit all of our student-athletes in their development."
Brausch will be tasked with working with all 18 of the Quakers varsity programs. He will create fitness plans for each program, and work with the athletes on proper nutrition, conditioning, mobility, and recovery to help the athletes develop.
Before accepting his current position at Wilmington, Brausch was a strength and conditioning intern at The Ohio State University. While with the Buckeyes, he worked with their fencing, swimming & diving, and track & field teams. Brausch implemented strength training and return-to-play programs for student-athletes along with supporting the power & strength development and mobility training that led to top 15 finishes for both swimming & diving teams at the NCAA Division I Championships. He is certified by the National Strength & Conditioning Association.
"I want to thank our administration for their continued commitment to the development of our student-athletes," Brausch said. "The implementation of a Strength & Conditioning Coach position is evidence of that commitment."
Brausch was a non-traditional student at Wilmington, where he graduated in December of 2022 with a degree in Exercise Science. He was on the Dean's List three times and earned an All-Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) selection as a heavyweight and member of the Quakers wrestling program.
Before enrolling at Wilmington, Brausch served nine years in the United States Marine Corps as a Staff Sergeant. He was a non-commissioned officer in charge of the powerline work center and supervised approximately 50 marines.
Brausch is a native of Wilmington and a graduate of Wilmington High School. In addition to his undergraduate degree from Wilmington College, Brausch earned a Master of Science Degree in Exercise Science and Wellness: Fitness and Performance from Liberty University. He lives in Wilmington with his wife Heather and their three children Henry, Hudson, and Lorelei.
