Field Performances Lead Wilmington at Cherry Blossom Invitational

(ATHENS, Ohio) – The Wilmington College men's track & field team competed in an unscored Cherry Blossom Invitational on Saturday at Ohio University.

The Quakers went 1-4 in the Hammer Throw with Nathen Borgan winning the event with a mark of 61.93m on his last throw. He has thrown over 60 meters in all four meets he has competed at during the outdoor season.

Jarrett Durr was second with a toss of 60.85m on his second throw. This mark is a career best for Durr. Nate Marcum was third with his mark of 52.75m on throw three. Justin Shuga finished fourth at 52.70m on his third attempt.

Shuga also led the Quakers in the Shot Put with a mark of 14.38m on his first throw. Mike Soltis finished behind Shuga at 13.65m on attempt number three.

Also in the throws, Perry Kingrey was third in the Javelin Throw with a career best toss of 43.12m on his second throw.

On the track, Tate Yoder finished fourth in the 3000 Meter Run with a time of 8:51.70 while Dane Klosterman was seventh in the 400 Meter Hurdles at 58.73 seconds.

Simon Heys competed at the Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic tonight in the 10,000 Meter Run and finished second in a solid field with a time of 29:17.58. This time slots him third in Division III in this event.  

What's Up Next

The Quakers are scheduled for one more meet before the OAC Outdoor Championships. Some athletes compete Friday at the Jesse Owens Classic in Columbus, Ohio, while others compete at Otterbein University in the Otterbein Twilight.
