Men's Track & Field Wins the MSJ Invite

(CINCINNATI, Ohio) – The Wilmington College men's track & field team won the MSJ Invite Saturday afternoon with 141 points. This is the Quakers first win since winning the Muskingum Invitational last February.

Wilmington's top scorer was Brady Vilvens who won the high jump with a clearance of 1.90 meters and the triple jump at 12.32 meters for 20 points. Vilvens, alongside Samuel Alexander, Tyler Parks, and Cameron Chatfield finished fifth in the 4x200 Meter Relay at 1:39.84 for four points.

Justin Shuga scored 18 points for Wilmington, winning the shot put at 14.23 meters and finishing second in the weight throw at 17.28 meters. His weight throw mark is a career best.

Next up for Wilmington was Simon Heys with 16 points. Heys won the 3000 Meter Run with a time of 9:00.77 to score 10 points before taking third in the Mile at 4:21.79 for six points. Four runners finished the mile somewhere in the range of four minutes and 21 seconds. Heys, Brendan Bornemann, Tate Yoder, and Noah Tobin finished the Distance Medley Relay (DMR) in 11:13.24 to finish first and score 10 points.

Jarrett Durr scored 14 points for the Quakers with a win in the weight throw at 18.07 meters and a fourth-place finish in the shot put (13.49 meters).

The Quakers final double-digit scorer was Gabe Moore with 10 points. Moore won the 5000 Meter Run in 16:47.09 for 10 points and finished eighth in the 3000 Meter Run with a time of 9:50.63.

Eight-point scorers were Tyler Parks and Mike Soltis. Parks took second in the 5000 Meter Run at 16:58.45. He was also a part of the 4x200 Meter Relay team and the 4x400 Meter Relay team. The 4x400 team of Alexander, Parks, Chatfield, and Wade Evans finished third at 4:03.67 for eight points.

Soltis took second in the shot put with a toss of 14.16 meters and was ninth at 12.64 meters in the weight throw. His weight throw mark is a career best.

Scoring six points for Wilmington was Nathan Borgan and Tate Yoder. Borgan finished third in the weight throw with a mark of 16.33 meters while Yoder finished third in the 3000 Meter Run with a time of 9:13.80. Yoder also finished seventh in the 800 Meter Run at 2:03.98.

Nate Marcum and Noah Tobin both scored four points for Wilmington. Marcum finished fourth in the weight throw at 15.71 meters and Tobin finished fourth in the 3000 Meter Run with a time of 9:28.57.

The final scorers for Wilmington were Samuel Alexander who scored two points in the 400 Meter Dash (57.94), Bryson Robinette scoring two points in the 5000 Meter Run (19:29.75), and Perry Kingrey scoring a point in the weight throw (13.61 meters).
