Weight Throw Leads Quakers on Day One at OAC Indoor Championships

(NEW CONCORD, Ohio) – The Wilmington College men's track & field team completed a solid first day of action at the 2024 Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Indoor Track & Field Championships. The Quakers sit in third place out of 10 teams with a team score of 38.

The Quakers were led during the day by their performance in the Weight Throw, with 23 of their points coming from that event alone. Winning the event and scoring 10 points for Wilmington was Nathen Borgan, who broke his own program record again this week after setting it last week. He recorded a toss of 19.39m on his fifth attempt, winning the event by nearly a meter. He stays seventh in Division III in the event with his new mark.

Finishing behind Borgan was Jarrett Durr with a toss of 18.48m on his third throw to score eight points. Durr sits 14th in Division III in the Weight Throw. Justin Shuga took fifth in a stacked event, with a personal best mark of 18.17m, which gave him four points and the 19th best throw in Division III. Rounding out the Quakers attack in the Weight Throw was Nate Marcum, who finished eighth for one point at 16.05m.

Also winning an event for Wilmington was Simon Heys, who won the 5000 Meter Run by over 11 seconds with a time of 14:33.45 to score 10 points. Scoring the final points for Wilmington was the Distance Medley Relay team of Noah Tobin, Dane Klosterman, Tate Yoder, and Heys with a time of 10:30.08 to take fourth place and score five points.
