Men's Track and Field Puts Together Solid Day in Season-Opener at Wittenberg

(SPRINGFIELD, Ohio) – The Wilmington College men's track & field team competed at the unscored Tiger Opener Saturday afternoon, hosted by Wittenberg University.

Noah Tobin and Nathen Borgan led the Quakers with a victory in their respective event. Tobin won his lone event of the day, the 5,000 Meter Run, with a time of 15:24.69, which bested second place by over eight seconds. Borgan won the weight throw with a toss of 17.76m on his third throw of competition. This bested his competitors by over a quarter of a meter.

His competition happened to be his teammate Jarrett Durr who finished second at 17.42 meters. Durr also finished seventh in the shot put with a mark of 13.48 meters.

The Quakers were led in the shot put by Justin Shuga and Mike Soltis. Shuga finished second at 14.67 meters, while Soltis was just barely behind him at 14.66 meters. Shuga also competed in the weight throw, where he completed the Quakers solid trio in fourth place with a mark of 16.53 meters.

Other Quakers that raced well in the 5,000 Meter Run were Tate Yoder, who finished third at 15:44.09 and Gabe Moore, who was sixth with a time of 16:05.68.

Simon Heys raced at Boston University's Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener tonight and finished in 199th place in the 5,000 Meter Run with a time of 14:46.60.

The Quakers are off until the new year. Their next meet is January 20th, 2024, at the MSJ Invite, hosted by Mount St. Joseph University.
