Men's Basketball Closes Out Week at Home With John Carroll on Saturday

WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College men's basketball team continues a home stand on Saturday with an Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) contest against John Carroll University on Saturday. Tip-off from Fred Raizk Arena is slated for 4 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington and John Carroll. The Fightin' Quakers are 3-10 overall and notched their first conference victory with a 65-63 come-from-behind win over Muskingum University at home on Wednesday. The Blue Streaks are 6-5 on the season and 1-3 in OAC competition after an 81-75 loss at home to Otterbein University on Wednesday. The game was JCU's first in 2022.

The Coaches: K.C. Hunt is in his 15th season as head coach of Wilmington's men's basketball program. Hunt, who has coached two All-Americans and seven of the school's 1,000-point scorers, led the Quakers to OAC Tournament titles in 2010 and 2014. He garnered Great Lakes Region Coach of the Year honors for guiding Wilmington to OAC Tournament title and a win in the NCAA Division III Tournament in 2010. Pete Moran, a 2008 JCU alumnus and son of long-time coach Mike Moran, is in his fifth seas as the Blue Streaks' head coach. He led his alma mater to a Sweet 16 appearance in the NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Tournament in his first year as head coach, the 2017-18 season.

The Players: Two-time First Team All-OAC selection Jeffery Mansfield leads Wilmington in several categories including scoring (14.5 points), rebounding (6.8 boards) and assists (4.5). Noah Dado grabs 6.1 rebounds per contest while Dado, Collmann Aaron, Bryce Bird and Anthony Freeman contribute over five points per game. Jackson Sartain leads JCU in scoring at 21.2 points per game and rebounding at 6.5 per contest. A trio of Blue Streaks - Chase Toppin, Eric Hanna and David Gentry - also score in double figures.

Spectator Policy: After the conclusion of the fall semester, Wilmington College updated its COVID-19 campus protocols. This includes no spectators until and including January 20th.
