WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College men's basketball team looks for a season sweep of Muskingum University on Wednesday when the Fightin' Quakers head to New Concord for a 7 p.m. contest on Wednesday.
The Teams: Wilmington and Muskingum. The Fightin' Quakers enter the game 4-16 overall and 2-12 in Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) competition after an 84-65 defeat at the University of Mount Union on Saturday. The Fighting Muskies are 5-16 overall and also 2-12 in conference games after a 75-66 defeat at Heidelberg University on Sunday.
The Coaches: K.C. Hunt is in his 15th season as head coach of Wilmington's men's basketball program. Hunt, who has coached two All-Americans and seven of the school's 1,000-point scorers, led the Quakers to OAC Tournament titles in 2010 and 2014. He garnered Great Lakes Region Coach of the Year honors for guiding Wilmington to OAC Tournament title and a win in the NCAA Division III Tournament in 2010. Travis Schwab, one of the most decorated players in Ohio Wesleyan University history, is in his seventh season as Muskingum's head coach.
The Players: Two-time First Team All-OAC selection Jeffery Mansfield leads Wilmington in several categories including scoring (15.9 points) and assists (4.0) while being second on the squad in rebounding at 5.2 boards per contest. Noah Dado grabs 7.0 rebounds per 40 minutes while Dado, Collmann Aaron, Bryce Bird and Anthony Freeman contribute over six points per game. Similar to Wilmington, Muskingum also features an individual who leads the team in several categories. Alex Masinelli averages 20.1 points, 7.1 rebounds and 3.7 assists per contest.
