Men's Basketball Looks for Season Split With Capital on Tuesday

WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College men's basketball team continnes Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) play on Tuesday at Capital University. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m. (Note, the game was moved up a day due to impending inclement weather)

The Teams: Wilmington and Capital. The Fightin' Quakers are 4-14 overall and 2-10 in OAC play after an 86-60 defeat at the hands of Heidelberg University at home on Saturday. The Comets are 10-6 overall and 5-6 in conference competition having most recently defeated John Carroll University 97-79 at home on Saturday. 

The Coaches: K.C. Hunt is in his 15th season as head coach of Wilmington's men's basketball program. Hunt, who has coached two All-Americans and seven of the school's 1,000-point scorers, led the Quakers to OAC Tournament titles in 2010 and 2014. He garnered Great Lakes Region Coach of the Year honors for guiding Wilmington to OAC Tournament title and a win in the NCAA Division III Tournament in 2010. Damon Goodwin, the winningest coach in Capital history, has been the Comets' head coach since the 1994-95 season.

The Players: Jeffery Mansfield is Wilmington's top offensive threat scoring 16.4 points per contest while also assisting on over four assists per game and grabbing over six rebounds per contest, good for second on the team. Collmann Aaron and Anthony Freeman both score over seven points per contest while Noah Dado leads the team in rebounding at 6.5 boards per 40 minutes. David Sanford scores 12.2 points per contest to lead the Comets scoring while Tyler Schreck averages nearly a double-double at 9.3 points and 9.4 rebounds per game.

Tale of the Tape: Points per game – Wilmington 67.8, Capital 73.9; opponents' points per game – Wilmington 73.4, Capital 71.1; field goal percentage – Wilmington 39.9, Capital 43.5; three-point percentage – Wilmington 30.9, Capital 36.1; free throw percentage – Wilmington 66.7, Capital 72.1; rebounding margin – Wilmington -5.2, Capital +2.8; assist-to-turnover ratio – Wilmington 0.92, Capital 0.70.
