Volleyball Heads to Mount Union on Saturday

SERIES HISTORY

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College volleyball team continues Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) play when it travels to Alliance, Ohio, for a date with the University of Mount Union on Saturday. First serve is slated for 1 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington and Muskingum. The Fightin' Quakers are 3-17 overall and 0-2 in conference competition after a straight-set defeat at the hands of Muskingum University on Wednesday. The Purple Raiders are 14-4 overall and an even 1-1 in OAC matches after a 3-1 home win over John Carroll University on Wednesday.

The Coaches: A new era of Wilmington volleyball has arrived Sophie Windover, a former collegiate player and assistant at Heidelberg University, takes over as head coach. She helped guide the Student Princes to a 21-8 record and an appearance in the AVCA Top 25 Poll. Melissa Mahnke-Morrison, a 2010 Mount Union graduate, is in her seventh season coaching her alma mater.

The Players: Sofia Thomas leads Wilmington offensively with a 2.56 kills per set average. Three other Quakers – Sydney GeibelVictoria LongJoy Bebe – put down 1.50 kills per set. Setter Andie Dolven runs Wilmington's 5-1 offense to the tunes of 7.41 assists per set while Blake O'Brien, WC's libero, leads the back row averaging over five digs per set. Heaven Bartell leads the Purple Raiders offensively averaging 3.17 kills per set. Mollie Thomas and Katie May run Mount Union's 6-2 offense and combine to dish out over 10 assists per set.
