Volleyball Defeated at Capital 3-0

BEXLEY, Ohio – Capital University won its first Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) match of the season on Wednesday evening, defeating the Wilmington College volleyball team 25-13, 25-17, 25-13 at the Capital Center.

The Comets hit a .204 clip for the match compared to a .024 hitting percentage for the Fightin' Quakers. Capital also won the serve-pass game by keeping Wilmington out of system with 10 aces. The hosts also made it difficult for the visitors at the end, tallying a 14-4 advantage in blocks.

Delanie Nahikian and Larissa Smith led the way offensively, putting down nine and eight kills respectively with the later hitting a .350 clip. Jenay Kocsis and Jordyn Hoffman split the setting duties to combine for 33 assists while Erin O'Connell had 20 digs.

For Wilmington, a quartet of Quakers – Sofia Thomas, Joy Bebe, Victoria Long and Cierra Bolender – put down five kills with Bolender leading the bunch in attack percentage at a .250 clip. Andie Dolven assisted on 23 kills while Blake O'Brien and Macee Hamilton had 16 and 13 digs respectively.

Wilmington will host John Carroll University and Olivet College (Michigan) in a season-finale tri-match at Fred Raizk Arena on Saturday.
