The Teams: Wilmington, Grove City, Albion and Ohio Wesleyan (OWU). The Quakers, the only team to play a game this season, are 1-0 after a 75-65 victory over Mount St. Joseph University at Hermann Court on Tuesday evening. The Wolverines are looking to build on a 17-9 campaign a season ago while the Britons finished 18-8 overall in 2021-22 as a member of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA). The Battling Bishops finished last season 21-7 and were an overtime defeat at the hands of Wittenberg University away from making the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Tournament.

The Coaches: Wilmington is under the direction of third-year Head Coach Janel Blankespoor, who is in her fourth season with the program having been interim coach during the 2020-21 season and the program's top assistant the two years prior. The 2007 Otterbein College alumna spent stints at Mount Union and Earlham College before coming to Wilmington. Chelle Fuss is in her 16th season on the Grove City sidelines including her ninth as head coach. She led the Wolverines to an NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Tournament appearance in 2019-20. Doreen Carden, the winningest coach in Albion history, is in her 21st season as the Britons' head coach while Stacey Ungashick Lobdell has been OWU's head coach for a dozen seasons.

The Players: A trio of Quakers - Kennedy Lewis, Marisa Seiler, and Zahrya Bailey - scored in double figures in WC's season-opening victory over Mount St. Joseph on Tuesday. Bailey, Seiler and Brooke Davis hauled in at least seven rebounds while Lewis dished out six assists. Jada Pohlen swiped four steals in her first collegiate game. Grove City returns its top two scores in Megan Kallock and Kat Goetz, both of which averaged in double figures a season ago. Albion also returns its top scorers as Lolo Reed (12.1 PPG) and Elena Walker (10.5 PPG) while Kasey Schipfer looks to build upon a sophomore season that saw her average 13.4 points and 7.1 rebounds per game.

Recent History: Wilmington is 3-0 against both Grove City and Albion as well as 5-4 against OWU as an NCAA Division III member. More information can be viewed by visiting the links above.
