WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College softball team, after an unexpected weekend off, continues Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) play at Ohio Northern University on Tuesday. First pitch is slated for noon (note the time change).

The Teams: Wilmington and Ohio Northern (ONU). The Fightin' Quakers enter the matchup 7-5 overall and 1-1 in conference competition after a twinbill split at Baldwin Wallace University on Wednesday. The Polar Bears are 8-6 overall and a perfect 4-0 in OAC games after a sweep of the University of Mount Union in Alliance on Saturday. 

The Coaches: Beth Floyd is in her 15th season as Wilmington's softball head coach. She is the winningest softball coach in school history and also heads the College's coaching minor. Floyd has led the Quakers to the program's first winning season with a 20-16 record in 2013. Jackie Price, a 2012 ONU graduate and two-time OAC Player of the Year, is in her sixth season at her alma mater. 

The Hitters: Wilmington featured a quartet of Quakers - Lindsey Carter, Mollie Moore, Hayley Suchland and Judaea Wilson - who hit over a .480 clip on the season. Carter leads the team in doubles (8) and RBIs (12) whiel Suchland has swiped a team-best six bases. Suchland is joined by Arianna Layne, Claire Scully and Bailey Hypes as the individuals who have hit home runs this season. Julia Gersey and Ashley Matousek both have a team-best 13 hits for BW. Kaylie Griffin leads ONU in batting average with a .371 clip to go along with four doubles and a home run. Hannah Rubel has driven in a team-best nine runs. 

The Pitchers: Wilmington has used a the trio of Alexis Stringfellow, Izzy Rothrock and Carter to pitch the majority of the team's innings through a quarter of the season. Stringfellow was hurled 25.2 innings and carries a 2.18 ERA with two complete-game victories while Rothrock has struck out 12 batters in her 14 innings. The Polar Bear duo of Ashley Lenser and Stacey Williams have pitched a combined 59.1 innings and both have between a 3.00-3.50 ERA. Both have also struck out over 20 batters.

Series History: Wilmington is 6-20 against ONU since the 2009 season. The Quakers took 3-of-4 games in the series last season. More information on the series history can be viewed by visiting the link above.
