Carter & Stringfellow Sweep OAC Weekly Awards

WESTERVILLE, Ohio - The Wilmington College softball team swept the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) weekly awards on Monday as Lindsey Carter earned OAC Hitter of the Week honors and Alexis Stringfellow garnered OAC Pitcher of the Week recognition.

Carter hit a .500 average with 13 hits, seven doubles and a team-best 12 RBIs in the Fightin' Quakers' eight games down in Fort Myers, Florida. The sophomore from Clarksville, Ohio, didn't strike out a single time and had a perfect fielding percentage, both in the outfield and on the mound. In Wilmington's best win, a 6-3 triumph over perennial national power Central College (Iowa), Carter with 2-for-3 with two doubles to left center that scored three runs. She also made two diving catches in the outfield.
 
Stringfellow pitched a team-best 20.2 innings and recorded two wins and a save while carrying a 3.12 ERA. In Wilmington's win over Central, she earned a six-inning victory, allowing just three runs against the Dutch. The Mount Vernon, Ohio, native struck out 20 batters on the week and allowed just one walk.
 
"Lindsey did an outstanding job at the plate, utilizing both her power and speed," Head Coach Beth Floyd said. "Lex gave us a couple real gutsy performances and pitched extremely well against some good competition. I'm very proud of both of them."

Wilmington (6-4) host Defiance College for a doubleheader on Tuesday. First pitch from the WC Softball Complex is slated for 3 p.m.
