Men's Track and Field Takes First at MSJ Invitational

CINCINNATI, Ohio- The Wilmington men's track and field team traveled to the Mount Saint Joseph Invitational hosted by Mount Saint Joseph University on Saturday. The Fightin' Quakers came out ahead of all the other teams competing, even without two of their top team members. The Quakers finished first of six teams with 202.2 points.

AJ Hightower turned in one of the team's four first-place finishes on the track of the afternoon. Hightower placed first with a time of 22.37 in the 200-meter dash. Hightower then joined forces with Adam Knaub, Eric Flynn, Jr., and Jordan Jones to form a first-place winning 4-x-100-meter relay.

Gage Clemens earned first-place in the 5000-meter run with a time of 16:25.19.

In the 400-meter hurdles, Aaron Koch took first-place, crossing the finish line in 58.03.

The field events captured six additional first-place finishes.

First-place in the high jump was awarded to Colin Meyers for clearing a height of 1.83 meters.

Hightower demonstrated skill in the long jump, as well, earning first-place with a distance of 6.00 meters.  

The Quakers swept the throwing events, placing first in every single one. In the shot put, Joe Holcomb cinched first-place with a mark of 14.59 meters. Kalvin Butts placed first in the discus with a heave of 45.95 meters and in the hammer throw with a toss of 51.67 meters. Alex Tillapaugh took home first-place in the javelin throw with a distance of 47.22 meters.

Wilmington will be back in action on Friday and Saturday of next week at the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships hosted by Ohio Northern University.
