Burnam, Truss and Butts Garner USTFCCCA All-Region Honors

COMPLETE LIST OF USTFCCCA ALL-REGION HONOREES

NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana - Wilmington College men's track & field seniors Pierce Burnam, Antone Truss and Kalvin Butts have garnered Outdoor All-Region honors from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). 

In order to receive All-Region recognition, individuals needed to finish in the top five in their event in each of NCAA Division III's eight regions. 

Butts received All-Region honors twice as he had the third-best mark in the the hammer throw and fifth-best heave in the discus. The St. Johns, Michigan native logged a 55.16-meter (181') heave in the hammer at the Augustana Twilight Meet on May 17 and a mark of 47.48 meters (155' 9") in the discus at the GVSU Last Chance Meet on May 9.

Burnam earns All-Region honors for posting the fastest time in the 400-meter hurdles in the region. Burnam broke the school record in the event with a time of 52.43 seconds at the Great Lakes Final Qualifying Meet hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University on May 17. He is seeded eighth for nationals in the 400-meter hurdles.

Truss, like Burnam, posted the best mark in the region in the high jump, jumping 2.10 meters (6' 10 3/4") at the All-Ohio Meet on April 14. He is seeded sixth at nationals in the event.

Burnam and Truss will compete at the NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championships posted by the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse on May 24-26.
