Butts, Truss, and Burnam Compete at Jesse Owens Classic

COLUMBUS, Ohio- Kalvin Butts, Antone Truss, and Pierce Burnam represented the Wilmington College men's  track and field team at the Jesse Owens Classic hosted by Ohio State University on Friday and Saturday.

The trio competed in fields that, for the majority, consisted of student-athletes from NCAA Division I and II institutions.

Antone Truss earned fourth-place in the high jump on Saturday, clearing a height of 1.98 meters.

Pierce Burnam took fifth-place in the 400-meter hurdles on Saturday with a time of 53.22, breaking Nate Weyant's school record of 53.25 set on May 11, 2002.

Butts competed in the hammer throw on Friday where, with a toss of 55.03 meters, he finished eighth in the field.

The entire team will be back together on Friday and Saturday of next week at the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships hosted by Ohio Northern University.
