Men’s Track and Field Sixth at Jessica Starks

BEXLEY, Ohio - The Wilmington College men's indoor track and field team traveled to Capital University to compete in the Jessica Starks Open on Saturday. Of the 13 competing teams, the Fightin' Quakers came in sixth with 47 points.

Pierce Burnam and Kalvin Butts led the way for the Quakers, both earning one individual first-place finish.

Burnam crossed the finish line in 8.69 seconds to grab the title in the 60-meter hurdles while Butts threw the weight 16.85 meters to claim first in the weight throw.

In addition to his first-place finish, Burnam earned fourth-place in the 400-meter dash with a time of 52.24 and fifth place in the triple jump with a distance of 12.43 meters.

Other fifth-place finishes included: Joe Holcomb in the shot put with a heave of 14.52 meters and Gino Hinton in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.09.

Wilmington continues their season at the Cedarville Invitational on February 2.
