Men's Track and Field Opens Outdoor Season at Emory

WILMINGTON, Ohio- The Wilmington College men's outdoor track and field team will travel to Emory University to compete in the Emory Invitational on Friday and Saturday.

The Coach: Ron Combs enters his 17th season as the head coach of Wilmington's men's and women's track and field teams. Combs has been named Coach of the Year, twice by the Heartland Athletic Conference, and once by the OAC. In 2002, he led the men's indoor team to a sixth-place finish at NCAA DIII Championships.

WC Student-Athletes to Watch: Kalvin Butts concluded the indoor season with a ninth-place finish in the weight throw at the NCAA Division III Indoor National Championships and will look to continue to lead the team and the field in the throwing events. Pierce Burnam is coming off of a successful indoor season, finishing third in the 500-meter dash at the Ohio Athletic Conference Championship meet and playing an integral role in several relays. AJ Hightower will hope to carry his indoor success in the 200-meter dash and the long jump to the outdoor track.
