Men's Track and Field Concludes Emory Invitational in Tenth Place

ATLANTA, Georgia - The Wilmington College men's track and field team concluded competition at the Emory Invitational hosted by Emory University on Saturday afternoon. The Fightin' Quakers went into the second and final day of competition in fifth place and ultimately finished the invitational in 10th place.

On the track, Pierce Burnam was the only member of the Quakers to break into the top 10 in an event. He earned fourth-place in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.67. Burnam also claimed eighth in the triple jump with a distance of 12.65-meters.

Kalvin Butts led the way for the team in the throwing events, earning a second-place finish in the discus throw with a toss of 43.64 meters. He was joined in the top 10 by Joe Shuga, who earned seventh place with a heave of 39.54 meters.

In the shot put, Joe Holcomb earned fourth place with a heave of 13.81 meters. He was backed by Shuga who earned eighth with a throw of 12.88 meters.

The Quakers will be back in action on Friday, March 30 at the Wittenberg Invitational.
