Men's Basketball Hosts Capital for Senior Day on Wednesday

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College men's basketball team will play at Fred Raizk Arena for the final time during the 2017-18 season on Wednesday when the Fightin' Quakers host Capital University for senior day. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington and Capital. The Quakers enter the final week of the 2017-18 regular season with a 10-12 overall mark and a 6-10 Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) record after an 80-65 loss at Marietta College on Wednesday. The Crusaders are 11-12 overall and have a 7-9 conference record and most recently fell 67-65 at Baldwin Wallace University.

The Coaches: K.C. Hunt enters his 11th season as head coach of Wilmington's men's basketball program. Hunt, who has coached two All-Americans and seven of the school's 1,000-point scorers, led the Quakers to OAC Tournament titles in 2010 and 2014. He garnered Great Lakes Region Coach of the Year honors for guiding Wilmington to OAC Tournament title and a win in the NCAA Division III Tournament in 2010. Damon Goodwin has been Capital's head men's basketball coach for 23 seasons. 

The Players: Christian Jones leads Wilmington in scoring at 19.1 points per game while also grabbing 2.7 rebounds and dishing out 2.7 assists per contest. Will Patrick and Nathan Scott both score 12.5 points per game while Andrew Russell leads the team in rebounding (4.0 rebounds per game) and D.J. Iles is tops on the squad in assists per contest (3.2). A trio of Crusaders – Austin Schreck, Joey Weingartner and Caleb Cox – score in double figures. Cox leads the team in rebounding at 8.6 boards per game.

Tale of the Tape: Points per game – Wilmington 82.6, Capital 74.9; opponents' points per game – Wilmington 82.5, Capital 75.0; field goal percentage – Wilmington 42.8, Capital 46.9; three-point percentage – Wilmington 37.2, Capital 36.4; free throw percentage – Wilmington 78.6, Capital 71.5; rebounds per game – Wilmington 31.6, Capital 35.4, assist-to-turnover ratio – Wilmington 1.11, Capital 0.98.

Senior Day: The game marks the final home games for the careers of four seniors. A brief ceremony for Christian Jones, D.J. Iles, Jordan Jones and Nathan Scott will be held prior to the game.

Recent History: Wilmington is 10-15 against Capital in the last decade. The Quakes won the last meeting in Fred Raizk Arena – 92-82 on Jan. 4, 2017. More information on the series history can be found by viewing the link above.

First Time Around: Capital held Wilmington to a season-low 58 points in a 72-58 victory on Jan. 3.

OAC Tournament: Wilmington is currently tied with Heidelberg University for eighth place in the OAC. Courtesy of Heidelberg's victory over top-seeded John Carroll University, the Quakers are currently out of the OAC Tournament, which takes the top eight teams in the conference, with two games remaining.
