Men's Basketball Travels to John Carroll on Saturday

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College men's basketball team looks for revenge on Saturday as the Fightin' Quakers travel to John Carroll University for a 2 p.m. contest.

The Teams: Wilmington and John Carroll. The Fightin' Quakers are 9-10 overall and 5-8 in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) after an 88-87 win over Muskingum University on Wednesday. The Blue Streaks are 16-4 overall and 10-3 in conference after a 97-91 win at Otterbein University.

The Coaches: K.C. Hunt enters his 11th season as head coach of Wilmington's men's basketball program. Hunt, who has coached two All-Americans and seven of the school's 1,000-point scorers, led the Quakers to OAC Tournament titles in 2010 and 2014. He garnered Great Lakes Region Coach of the Year honors for guiding Wilmington to OAC Tournament title and a win in the NCAA Division III Tournament in 2010. Pete Moran, the son of former John Carroll head coach Mike Moran, is in his sixth season with the Blue Streak men's basketball program including his first has head coach.

The Players: A trio of Quakers, Christian Jones, Nathan Scott and Will Patrick, all score in double figures including Jones who scores 19 points per game and is second on the team in assists at 2.9 per contest. Soctt, who scores 13.5 points per game, is second on the squad in rebounding at four rebounds per game while Patrick scores over a dozen points per game. Andrew Russell grabs a team-high 4.3 rebounds per game while D.J. Iles assists on more than four Quaker baskets per contest. Five Blue Streaks score in double figures including Matthew Csuhran (17.9 points per game) and Antonio Vuyancih (14.5 points per game). Csuhran also leads the squad in rebounding at 5.8 boards per contest.

Tale of the Tape: Points per game – Wilmington 82.6, John Carroll 102.9; opponents' points per game – Wilmington 82.4, John Carroll 84.9; field goal percentage – Wilmington 42.5, John Carroll 46.6; three-point percentage – Wilmington 37.7, John Carroll 39.2; free throw percentage – Wilmington 78.7, John Carroll 74.5; rebounds per game – Wilmington 31.4, John Carroll 44.1; assist-to-turnover ratio – Wilmington 1.16, John Carroll 1.50.

Recent History: Wilmington is 10-16 against John Carroll in the last decade. The Blue Streaks have won the last seven meetings with the Quakers last win coming in a 69-63 victory in the 2014 OAC Tournament title game. More information on the series history can be viewed by visiting the link above.

First Time Around: The Blue Streaks edged the Quakers 105-97 at Hermann Court on Jan. 13.

OAC Turnaround: Wilmington began its OAC season with an 0-7 record, but have won four of its last five OAC contests.
