Men's Basketball Looks for Revenge at Heidelberg on Saturday

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College men's basketball team opens the second round of Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) play with a 2 p.m. game at Heidelberg University on Saturday.

The Teams: Wilmington and Heidelberg. The Fightin' Quakers are 6-9 overall and 2-7 in OAC play after a 100-84 victory at Otterbein University on Wednesday evening. The Student Princes are 7-9 overall and 3-6 in conference after an 84-80 victory at Ohio Northern University.

The Coaches: K.C. Hunt enters his 11th season as head coach of Wilmington's men's basketball program. Hunt, who has coached two All-Americans and seven of the school's 1,000-point scorers, led the Quakers to OAC Tournament titles in 2010 and 2014. He garnered Great Lakes Region Coach of the Year honors for guiding Wilmington to OAC Tournament title and a win in the NCAA Division III Tournament in 2010. Andy Bucheit, a 2005 Wittenberg University graduate, is in his fifth season has Heidelberg's head coach.

The Players: A trio of Quakers score in double figures including Christian Jones who leads the squad in scoring at 18.5 points per game and assists by dishing out 3.2 per contest. Nathan Scott scores 14 points per game while also teaming up with Andrew Russell to grab nearly eight rebounds per contest. Will Patrick also scored in double figures (11 points per game) for Wilmington. Heidelberg features four individuals who score over 10 points per game including Kiere Bennie (15.7 points per game) and Alex Arellano (14.2 points per game). Myron Prewitt grabs nearly seven rebounds per game.

Tale of the Tape: Points per game – Wilmington 81.4, Heidelberg 81.8; opponents' points per game – Wilmington 83.5, Heidelberg 82.3; field goal percentage – Wilmington 42.3, Heidelberg 45.9; three-point percentage – Wilmington 36.2, Heidelberg 35.1; free throw percentage – Wilmington 76.3, Heidelberg 70.8; rebounds per game – Wilmington 31.3, Heidelberg 37.6; assist-to-turnover ratio – Wilmington 1.10, Heidelberg 0.91.

Career Night: Christian Jones poured in a career-high 32 points including a 21-point first half effort in Wilmington's 100-84 victory over Otterbein on Wednesday.

Recent History: Wilmington is 11-13 against Heidelberg in the last decade. The Student Princes have won the last six matchups including a 97-85 win at Seiberling Gymnasium last season. More information on the series history can be found by visiting the link above.
