WILMINGTON, OH - The Wilmington College men's basketball team recorded 13 steals while turning Defiance over 19 times en route to an 85-57 victory Wednesday night.

The Quakers (3-2) got off to a quick start in the first half going on a 13-0 scoring run capped off with a Will Patrick three-point field goal, adding to the score and increasing the Quakers lead to 18-9 with 12:29 left in the first half.  After a couple exchanges of baskets, Wilmington went on another significant 8-0 scoring run with 6:26 left in the half, this time being capped off by a Kevin Lewis made three-point field goal.  The Quakers turned up the offense at the end of the half shooting a remarkable 18-35 from the field and 6-15 from the three-point line. Wilmington pushed it's lead to 17, 50-33 at the end of the period.

The defensive effort in the second half was turned all the way up for Wilmington.  The Quakers only allowed four total points in the first six minutes of the half increasing the lead to 26 at the 14:00-minute mark.  Wilmington continued it's effort on the defensive end the entire second half which led to easy offense and a lot of transition buckets.  Wilmington continued increasing the lead until the final minutes of the game resulting in an 88-57 victory in the men's basketball home opener.

Kevin Lewis finished with 20 points off the bench and went 7-9 shooting while going 4-5 from the three-point line, and 2-2 from the charity stripe. Christian Jones added 18 points, and G. Shea Mercer was the leading rebounder with eight total boards.

Wilmington shot 48.5% from the field, 36.0% from the three-point arc, and 12-16 from the free throw line. Wilmington out-rebounded Defiance 33-30 and led in the turnover margin forcing 19 Yellow Jacket turnovers to the Quakers 12.

Wilmington (3-2) opens up Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) play by hosting the Mount Union at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2nd.
