BEXLEY, Ohio - The Wilmington College men's basketball team had an off shooting night at Capital University on Wednesday evening as the Fightin' Quakers shot 29.5 percent from the field in a 72-58 loss to the Crusaders.

Capital scored the first nine points of the game before D.J Iles broke the drought with an old-fashioned three-point play at the 16:23 mark. The Crusaders would stretch their lead to 13 (18-5) seven minutes into the half until a Kevin Lewis triple cut the deficit back to 10 points.

Wilmington's offense, which came into the game averaging nearly 80 points per contest, never got going in the first half. The Quakers scored a dozen points in the first 16 minutes and eight in the final four minutes of the first half. Two free throws from Will Patrick at the 1:27 mark proved to be the final points of the half as Capital took a 34-20 lead into the break.

The Quakers would get within 13 points (42-29) on a triple from Jordan Jones three-and-a-half minutes into the second half, but Capital stretched its advantage back to 20 points four minutes later and held on for the OAC victory.

Capital shot 26-of-59 (44.1 percent) from the field in the game including (8-of-16) from beyond the arc. Wilmington connected on 5-of-26 (19.2 percent) attempts from distance while converting 17-of-21 (81.0 percent) from the charity stripe.

The Quakers were outrebounded 52-25, but made up some of the deficit by forcing Capital into 22 turnovers.

Individually, the Crusader duo of Joey Weingartner and Will Hannah combined for 41 points while Caleb Cox grabbed 14 rebounds. Christian Jones finished with 20 points for Wilmington.

"C.J. [Christian Jones] continues to play at a high level," Head Men's Basketball Coach K.C. Hunt said. "Hopefully we can all raise our level of play and competitive spirit on Saturday against an outstanding Baldwin Wallace team."

The Quakers and Yellow Jackets will tip-off from Hermann Court at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
