Wilmington slips against Mount St. Joseph in non-conference action

Cincinnati, OH - Wilmington continued its non-conference schedule by traveling to Mount St. Joseph University Tuesday night. The team was upended in the second half following what was a very successful first half by a score of 75-72. Wilmington was led by five players that were able to score in double figures.

STATS LEADERS
Junior Will Patrick (Chester, PA/ Pickerington Central,) led the Quakers in scoring with 13 points on 6-8 shooting.

Senior Christian Jones (Hamilton, OH/ Hamilton) and junior Andrew Russell (Columbus, OH/ Central Crossing) both added 11 points each in the loss.

Junior Kevin Lewis (Cincinnati, OH/ Clark Montessori) chipped in with 10 points and a team-high six rebounds.

TURNING POINT
Wilmington was in the lead 65-64 with 1:26 left in the second half when Mount St. Joseph guard Jordan Henry got fouled after completing a layup. Henry finished the three-point play by making his free throw resulting in Mount St. Joseph taking the lead 67-65.

FIRST-HALF SUMMARY
The first half Quakers shot an outstanding 50.0% from the field outscoring the Lions 37-29. The Quakers had a balanced scoring attack and were successful moving the ball around resulting in high percentage shots for the offense.  Defensively Wilmington held Mount St. Joseph to shooting 43.5% from the field and 18.2% from the three-point line.

SECOND-HALF SUMMARY
The Lions got off to a very quick start in the second half scoring eight straight points bringing the game to a tie at the 18:28 mark left in the second.  The Quakers fought back going on a 7-2 run of its own reclaiming the lead by a score of 46-39. Senior Jordan Jones (Dayton, OH/ Thurgood Marshall) scored five of his 10 points during that run that lasted almost two and a half minutes.  The game continued to stay close throughout the rest of the second half, but with about 1:30 left in the game the Lions completed a layup while getting fouled to put them up by two points.  From then on the Lions never gave up the lead and finished with the win 75-72.

GAME NOTES
Wilmington had nine different players score in the contest, with five players scoring in double figures.
Wilmington had a 47.1% to 52.3% disadvantage in overall field goal percentage.
Wilmington was able to force 20 turnovers from the Lions while compiling 14 team assists.
