ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Wilmington College women's track & field team scored several season-best performances on the final day of the 2023 Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted at Kehres Stadium at the University of Mount Union on Friday.

In field events, Madison Dietz scored a point for the team with an eighth-place leap of 33' 2" in the triple jump. Wilmington also had a great day in the hammer throw as Camaya Calloway heaved a significant personal best of 154' 2" to place her fourth. Abby Lodewyck took seventh with a mark of 147' 1".

The Quakers opened the day on the track with a sixth-place finish in the 4-x-100-meter relay. Dietz, Kylee Schafer, Jaineen Smith and Rachel Spanfellner crossed the finish line in 50.50 seconds. The same four individuals closed out the championships for WC, turning in a time of 4:23.33 in the 4-x-400-meter relay.

Dietz and Schafer also ran in the 100-meter dash, which they qualified for via the preliminaries yesterday. Schafer placed fourth with a time of 12.46 seconds while Dietz was sixth (12.54 seconds). Schafer duplicated that performance in the 200-meter dash by running 25.64 seconds in the event.

As a team, Wilmington finished ninth with a team total of 27 points, just two shy of both Capital University and Marietta College and eight points clear of Muskingum University. The host Purple Raiders claimed the OAC title with 213 points while John Carroll University placed second with 183 points.

The Quakers will send individuals to last chance meets in the coming weeks with hopes of improving times for qualification to the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships at the end of the month.
