Men's Swimming Finishes Fifth at the OAC Championships

(AKRON, Ohio) – The Wilmington College men's swimming team finished up the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Swimming & Diving Championships tonight. They finished the meet in fifth place out of six teams with a total score of 332 points. Over the course of the meet, the Quakers had two individuals in Cameron Bolen and Sondre Haugen place in the top-three of three individual events. Their best finish was last night when Bolen won the 100 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 56.22.

In tonight's action, the Quakers had eight men in 'B' finals and two men in 'A' finals. Logan Lippert also competed in the 1650 Yard Freestyle, which had no prelims and finished 12th with a time of 17:33.48.

In 'A' finals for the Quakers were Bolen and Joakim Pedersen in the 100 Yard Freestyle. Bolen finished fifth with a time of 46.71 after a 46.95 in the prelims. Pedersen finished eighth at 47.72 after swimming a 47.07 in the prelims. Austin Reed competed in the 'B' finals of the event and finished second with a time of 47.40 for a 10th place finish after a 47.73 in the prelims. Sondre Haugen finished fifth in the 'B' finals of the same event and 13th overall with a time of 47.55 in the finals and 47.78 in the prelims.

Dane Klosterman finished third in the 'B' finals of the 200 Yard Backstroke at 2:04.23 for an 11th place finish overall after a time of 2:05.17 in the prelims. Adam Moneypenny finished fifth in the 'B' finals of the 200 Yard Breaststroke and 13th overall at 2:18.14, improving on his 2:18.79 in the prelims.

The Quakers team of Pedersen, Haugen, Reed, and Bolen completed the meet in fourth place in the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay with a time of 3:06.84, destroying their time of 3:32.28 in the prelims.

This is the end of the Quakers 2023-24 season, as they will return to the pool this coming fall for the start of the 2024-24 season.
