Three Quakers Win Two Events in Home Loss to Ohio Northern

(WILMINGTON, Ohio) – The Wilmington College men's swimming team dropped their home opener Friday night, 165-93, to the Ohio Northern University Polar Bears in Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) dual action.

A trio of Quakers in sophomore Sondre Haugen, freshman Joakim Pedersen, and senior Cameron Bolen won multiple events on Friday night. Haugen was victorious in both the 200 Freestyle (2:00.81) and the 50 Butterfly (27.17). He won the 200 Free by nearly five seconds while taking the 50 Fly by just under a second. In his other individual event, he finished second in the 100 Freestyle with a time of 55.43.

After being part of a winning relay team against Baldwin Wallace last weekend, Pedersen tasted his first individual collegiate glory on Friday night. He won the 100 Backstroke (1:02.99) by over a second while winning the 100 IM (1:03.24) by over two seconds. He also was narrowly bested in the 50 Backstroke (28.68), taking second place.

Bolen won his two individual events Friday night to continue his great start to the season. He won the 50 Breaststroke with a time of 30.79, over two seconds better than his competitors, before winning the 100 Breaststroke (1:08.83) by nearly three seconds.

Sophomore John Good finished second in the 50 Freestyle with a time of 25.95. The Quakers 200 Medley Relay team of Pedersen, Bolen, Logan Lippert, and Good took second place at 1:53.64, before their 200 Freestyle Relay team consisting of Haugen, Good, Nick Kaufman, and Bolen ended the dual with a second-place finish (1:40.88).

The Quakers will be back in action when they travel to Springfield, Ohio for a tri-meet hosted by Wittenberg University on October 28th that also features the Transylvania University Pioneers, with a start time of 1:00 P.M.
