Men's Swimming Goes 1-1 at Wittenberg on Saturday

(SPRINGFIELD, Ohio) – The Wilmington College men's swimming team competed in a Tri-Meet at Wittenberg University Saturday afternoon that also included Transylvania University. The Quakers picked up their first victory of the season with a 178-57 win over Wittenberg but lost to Transylvania 168-112.

Sophomore Sondre Haugen continued his dominance at the beginning of this season, winning both individual events he competed in and the two relays he was a part of. In the 200-yard Freestyle, he won with a time of 1:48.62, which was nearly four seconds better than second place. In the 500-yard Freestyle, he won at 4:59.40, which was over 20 seconds better than the runner-up. He swam the third lap in the 200-yard Medley Relay as the Quakers won with a time of 1:39.99, with that team consisting of Joakim Pedersen, Cameron Bolen, Haugen, and John Good. He was the lead lap in the 200-yard Freestyle Relay, with the team swimming a winning time of 1:30.95. That team consisted of Haugen, Good, Nick Kaufman, and Bolen.

Bolen had another solid day, as he was a part of the two winning relay teams, won an individual event and was the runner-up in another event. He won the 100-yard Breaststroke with a time of 1:00.90, which was almost three seconds better than the runner-up. He was the runner-up in the 200-yard Breaststroke, swimming a time of 2:22.97.

Along with being a part of the winning 200-yard Medley Relay team, Pedersen won one event and was second in a pair of events for the Quakers. He won the 100-yard Freestyle at 49.50, beating out Kole Brannock from Transylvania who swam a 49.76. He finished second in the 100-yard Backstroke at 54.69, with Brannock swimming a hair better at 54.67, and he finished second with a time of 2:06.70 in the 200-yard IM.

In John Good's lone individual event, the 50-yard Freestyle, he finished with a runner-up time of 23.73, which was just edged by Isaiah Perkins of Transylvania's time of 23.32.
