Cole Huggard Joins Swimming Programs as Assistant Coach

WILMINGTON, Ohio - Wilmington College Head Swimming Coach & Director of Aquatics Trip Breen has announced the hiring of Cole Huggard as an assistant coach with both programs.

"I am excited to have Cole at Wilmington College," said Breen. "He will be able to draw from able to draw from his success both as a swimmer and a coach. I have no doubt that he will make a positive impact on WC swimming student-athletes and the campus community."

Huggard comes to Wilmington from Carroll High School in Dayton where he served as head swimming coach for the last two seasons. Huggard, who was named Greater Catholic League Boys Swimming Coach of the Year, managed a roster of over 20 and was responsible for organizing and hosting swimming meets as well as developing a training regimen. He also served as a club coach with the Dayton Raiders during that time, working with individuals ages 9-18.

"I am thrilled to be given this opportunity to work with such an outstanding team," said Huggard. "I'm excited to build on their success both in and out of the pool, and I look forward to the experiences we will share together."

A member of the swimming team at the University of the Cumberlands, Huggard earned a top-three finish in the butterfly at the Mid-South Conference Championships and qualified for the NAIA National Meet. A native of Bellbrook, Huggard graduated from Cumberlands in December of 2021 with a degree in information technology.

Wilmington begins its 2023-24 season in mid-October.
