Men's Swimming Falls at Mount Union in OAC Dual

ALLIANCE, Ohio - The Wilmington College men's swimming team opened the New Year with an Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) dual meet loss at the University of Mount Union on Saturday. The Purple Raiders defeated the Fightin' Quakers 175-80.

"We are coming off of a couple weeks of great training that has tired them out, and that showed in the races today," Head Men's Swimming Coach Trip Breen said. "I am pleased overall with our performance, but we need to perform better and continue to fine tune for the upcoming OAC Championship meet in mid-February."

Isak Alin earned two first-place finishes and one runner-up finishes in the meet. The sophomore won the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:16.15 and touched the pad in 56.11 seconds to claim victory in the 100-yard IM. Teammate Ian Darras finished behind Alin in the 100-yard IM, posting a time of 1:03.84. Alin's runner-up finish was in the 50-yard breaststroke (28.11 seconds).

Aaron Polk was the other Fightin' Quaker top earn a top-two placement individually as he took second int eh 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:21.84.

Wilmington finished one-two in the 200-yard freestyle relay as the team of Logan Schroer, Reed Ashcraft, Jared Shoemaker and Polk finished first with a time of 1:38.17. Coming in second was the Quaker squad of Samuel Shanes, Samuel Wallace, Brody Morris and Darras turned in a time of 1:44.24.

"We are looking forward to our Senior Day meet and one more opportunity to compete before the OAC Championships," said Breen.

That Senior Day meet is scheduled for next Saturday (Jan. 25) against John Carroll University.
