Volleyball Travels to Central State for Tri-Match Wednesday

SERIES HISTORY - CENTRAL STATE

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College volleyball team heads to Wilberforce on Wednesday for a tri-match with Central State University and West Virginia State University.

The Schedule: Wilmington will face West Virginia State (WVSU) at 5 p.m. followed by host Central State at 7 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington, WVSU and Central State. The Fightin' Quakers stand at 3-12 on the season, but won the last time they took the court, 3-1 at Defiance College. The Yellow Jackets are 9-2 overall and riding a four-match winning streak while the Marauders are 9-4 and winners of their last six matches.

The Coaches: A new era of Wilmington volleyball has arrived Sophie Windover, a former collegiate player and assistant at Heidelberg University, takes over as head coach. She helped guide the Student Princes to a 21-8 record and an appearance in the AVCA Top 25 Poll. Kris kern is in his fifth season as WVSU's head volleyball coach. He previously spent time at Logan Elm High School and Kenyon College. Ray Lewis is in his second season as Central State's head volleyball coach.

The Players: Sofia Thomas leads Wilmington offensively with a 2.62 kills per set average. Three other Quakers – Sydney Geibel, Victoria Long, Joy Bebe – put down over 1.50 kills per set. Setter Andie Dolven runs Wilmington's 5-1 offense to the tunes of 7.79 assists per set while Blake O'Brien, WC's libero, leads the back row averaging over five digs per set. The Yellow Jackets are led by Jenna Dufresne who averages nearly 4.50 kills per set while Kayla Adams dishes out nearly 10 assists per set for the Marauders.

Series History: Wilmington is a perfect 8-0 against Central State in the last decade. The Quakers' matchup with the Yellow Jackets will be their first during that time frame. More information on the series history can be viewed by visiting the link above.
