SERIES HISTORY

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College volleyball team heads to Earlham College on Tuesday for a Quaker Bowl Rivalry match. First serve from Schuckman Court is slated for 7 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington and Earlham. The Fightin' Quakers enter the match with a 2-6 overall record and trying to get back in the win column after four defeats at Mount St. Joseph University last weekend. The Hustlin' Quakers are 5-3 on the season after winning 2-of-3 matches at Illinois Wesleyan University. 

The Coaches: A new era of Wilmington volleyball has arrived Sophie Windover, a former collegiate player and assistant at Heidelberg University, takes over as head coach. She helped guide the Student Princes to a 21-8 record and an appearance in the AVCA Top 25 Poll. Lauren Horton is in her seventh season as Earlham's head coach and has guided the program to multiple Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Tournament berths. She's also the department's Associate Director of Athletics and Senior Woman Administrator.

The Players: Sofia Thomas averages nearly three kills per set to lead the Wilmington offense. A trio of Fightin' Quakers - Sydney Geibel, Joy Bebe, who is also the team's leading blocker, and Victoria Long - all join in to produce at least a 1.50 kills per set. First-year setter Andie Dolven assists on over eight kills per set while libero Blake O'Brien tallies 5.22 digs per set. A trio of Hustlin' Quakers - Maria Young, Giselle Mora and Sarah Dickman - all put down over 2.50 kills per set while setter Erin Wagner assisted in nearly 10 kills per set.

Series History: Wilmington is 7-13 against Earlham since 2008 and will be looking to snap an eight-match losing streak in the rivalry. More information on the series history can be viewed by visiting the link above.

Quaker Bowl Rivalry: Prior to the 2017-18 academic year, the athletics departments of Earlham College and Wilmington College announced the re-creation of the Quaker Bowl. Originally a trophy for just football and men's basketball contests, the bowl is now competed for across all sports in which Earlham and Wilmington play each other. Wilmington won the 2019-20 Quaker Bowl 7-4.
