Quakers Can't Complete Comeback in Loss at Ohio Northern

(ADA, Ohio) – The Wilmington College women's soccer team put up a valiant effort against a solid Ohio Northern squad Wednesday night but couldn't complete a comeback after trailing 2-0 heading into halftime.

The Polar Bears Julia Flanagan (9th minute) and Alyssa Beckett (43rd minute) each tallied a goal in the first half to take their aforementioned 2-0 halftime advantage. The Quakers had three shots in the first half.

Wilmington put their first shot on goal in the 55th minute, coming from freshman MJ Little. This would be followed up a few minutes later with a goal from sophomore Alex Wilson, who took advantage of a poor goal kick. Her teammate threaded a ball through two defenders with the defender kicking it off Wilson, who played it beautifully into the box and took a shot just outside the six to beat the keeper to her right for the goal to make it 2-1. The Quakers had a few more shots throughout the final moments of the game but couldn't find the equalizer.
