Women's Soccer Opens Season With Quaker Bowl Rivalry

WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College women's soccer team opens it's 2023-24 season Friday against Earlham in the first installment of the yearly 'Quaker Bowl', kickoff is set for 2:00.

The Teams: Wilmington and Earlham. Wilmington ended last season on a three game winning streak and is looking to build on that momentum this year. Earlham finished last season with a record of 5-7-3. 

The Coaches: Nick Kinder, a 2010 alumnus and four-year member of the men's soccer program, enters his second year as head women's soccer coach. He spent four seasons as the program's top assistant coach including the last six weeks leading the program on an interim basis following the retirement of 30-year Head Coach Steve Spirk. He is just the fifth head coach in the 38-year history of the program as a varsity sport. Lydia Harvey was promoted to Head Women's Soccer Coach after serving as Interim Head Coach for the fall 2021 season. A former standout on the field for the Quakers, Harvey enters her second season at the helm of the program after a stong finish to 2021. 

The Players: Wilmington returns leading goal scorer Alex Wilson who scored 12 goals making her the fourth leading goal scorer in the Ohio Athletic Conference. Earlham's leading goal scorer graduated after last season and sophomore Mallory Smith will look to take on the scoring burden.

Series History: Wilmington is 10-2 against Earlham and currently has a nine game winning streak.
