Volleyball Opens OAC Play at Heidelberg Saturday

SERIES HISTORY

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College volleyball team opens Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) play at Heidelberg University on Saturday. First serve is slate for 1 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington and Heidelberg. The Fightin' Quakers are 5-12 overall and on a four-match winning streak after sweeping the University of Cincinnati Clermont College 3-0 on Tuesday evening. The Student Princes are 13-5 overall and bring a six-match winning streak into the OAC opener.

The Coaches: Tim O'Brien enters his fourth year as Wilmington's head volleyball coach. He has improved the Quakers' wins total each of his first three seasons and is looking to break through in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) this season. A 2012 graduate of Siena Heights University, O'Brien was a four-year letter-winner for the Saints' men's volleyball, team and ranks in seven career and seasonal program records. Jason Miller has been the head coach at Heidelberg for 19 seasons. He has led Heidelberg to multiple NCAA Division III Tournament appearances during his tenure.

The Players: Offensively, Jillian Wesco is the lone Quaker to record over 100 kills as she stands at 115 kills for an average of 1.89 per set. Taylor McCuistion and Mariella Szrom have both tallied over 75 kills for Wilmington while Karrah Wind and Amber Rox both average over one kill per set. Jacie Koontz, Grace Ewing and Summer Wilbur all overage over 2.50 assists per set while Karley Schlensker and Wesco lead the back row with over 220 digs each. Four Student Princes – Morgan Strenk, Laura Schrag, Alyssa Crusey, and Amy Feczer – have all recorded over 200 kills while Anna McNabb averages over 10 assists per set. Defensively, Taylor Arbogast has averages 5.45 digs per set.

Winning Streak: Wilmington's four-match winning streak is the longest for the program in at least six seasons.
