Volleyball Hosts SMWC and Boyce in Tri-Match on Saturday

SERIES HISTORY - BOYCE

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College volleyball team hosts St. Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) and Boyce College in a tri-match at Hermann Court on Saturday.

The Schedule: Wilmington will face St. Mary-Woods at noon and Boyce at 4 p.m. The Pomeroys and Bulldogs will compete at 2 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington, St. Mary-Woods and Boyce. The Fightin' Quakers are 2-12 overall after snapping a seven-match losing skid by sweeping Central State University on Thursday. The Pomeroys are 5-10 on the season after recently falling to Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) member Franklin College in five sets. The Bulldogs are 1-10 and looking to snap a nine-match losing streak.

The Coaches: Tim O'Brien enters his fourth year as Wilmington's head volleyball coach. He has improved the Quakers' wins total each of his first three seasons and is looking to break through in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) this season. A 2012 graduate of Siena Heights University, O'Brien was a four-year letter-winner for the Saints' men's volleyball, team and ranks in seven career and seasonal program records. Stephen Beeler is in his fourth season as head coach as SMWC while Alexis Ammon is in her third season at Boyce.

The Players: Offensively, Jillian Wesco leads Wilmington with 97 kills and just under two kills per set. Mariella Szrom and Karrah Wind both have over 60 kills while Jacie Koontz has dished out 130 assists for an average of 3.42 per set. Defensively, Karley Schlensker leads the team in digs with 220 for an average of 4.40 per set. Statistics for SMWC and Boyce were not available.

Series History: Wilmington is 1-0 against Boyce (earlier this season) and 0-1 against SMWC in the last six seasons. More information on the series history can be viewed by visiting the links above.
