Volleyball Swept by Otterbein

WILMINGTON, Ohio - Otterbein University, which came into the evening undefeated in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC), remained perfect in the conference with a straight set 25-8, 25-20, 25-16 victory over the Wilmington College volleyball team at Hermann Court on Tuesday evening.

The Cardinals (18-5, 6-0) put down 16 kills and hit a .364 clip in the first set victory while the Fightin' Quakers tallied just a single kill in the opening set. Wilmington took a 17-13 lead in set two forcing a timeout from Otterbein Head Coach Monica Wright. Otterbein responded with an 8-1 run that caused Wilmington Head Coach Tim O'Brien to call a timeout. The hosts got kills from Meghan Koch and Jillian Wesco, but three kills from Tate Eppard and a block gave the Cardinals the set two victory. In set three, Wilmington hit a negative attack percentage.

Eppard and Hadley Sterett finished with nine kills to lead Otterbein while Alan King-Mendenhall put down seven kills. Wilmington countered with five kills from Jillian Wesco and four from Karrah Wind. In the assist category, Dana Wynkoop and Andrea Miller combined for 36 of the Cardinals' 38 assists while Grace Ewing and Jacie Koontz combined for 13 assists for the Quakers. Defensively, the liberos, Ashlyn Leon (14 digs) and Karley Schlensker (12 digs) led both teams.

Wilmington (6-18, 0-6 OAC) hosts the University of Cincinnati Clermont College on Thursday. First serve is slated for 7 p.m.
